I like to check for draughts with a lit candle around the windows and doors, then repair any caulk around the frames. I also ask my husband to clear the leaves from the gutters after autumn is over!

Check the heating system works before you need it.

Bleed the radiators to remove any air in the system.

Check the batteries/settings on any heating controls.

See if the local library offer loans of thermal cameras and do a quick scan for colder spots around the home that might be easy fixes.
