This question was asked at our Business Support Project launch event. 

What are the routes to becoming an ASHP installer? Is it a requirement to be Gas Safe registered, If not, what are the routes in to become an installer? Are there required qualifications?

You do not necessarily need to be gas safe registered to do ASHP installs, however if the customer has an old gas boiler that needs removing, you will need to use someone gas safe certified to remove it.

For installing ASHPs, you will need to be a member of a competent persons scheme, as well as MCS certified so that your customers can avail of the £7,500 government grant towards the install costs.
